2024 Summer Reading Program!
Each year the East Hampton Public Library sponsors fun and educational Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults! Our children’s and teen programs are designed to work with our local schools’ required Summer Reading to help prevent summer learning loss and to motivate kids and teens to not only read, but to engage with their community and try new things. And why should kids and teens have all the fun? We welcome adults to participate, too! Our Adult Summer Reading program also offers the opportunity for fun, community engagement, and fabulous prizes!

All Ages Summer Reading Kick Off Party
Join us on Friday, June 21st from 5pm-7pm to kick off our Summer Reading celebration! Sign up for the Summer Reading program and enjoy all of the fun activities at our kick off event! **This event has been moved to the Library due to forecasted thunderstorms.** But don’t worry! You can still get your face painted by Epoch Arts, eat a free donut from Dude’s Donuts, and take your turn in our Ticket Tornado as we celebrate the start of another great summer at the library!
Children’s Summer Reading: Birth to Grade 5
Set a weekly reading goal with your child. You can choose whether to read a certain number of books or to read for a certain number of minutes. Each week, read to meet your goal! Children can read independently or be read to. It all counts! Once your child has met their goal, visit the Library for their weekly sticker and raffle tickets to put towards winning great prizes like a bicycle, Hartford Athletic tickets, rock climbing passes, and more! Once a week, children can also roll the dice on our giant board game for even more chances to win. Plus, this year kids can also get in on the fun of special challenges! Complete tasks like creating your own obstacle course, learning how to say “hello” in a new language, or watching a sunset and earn an extra raffle ticket for each one!
Teen Summer Reading: Grades 6 – 12
Each week complete different challenges including reading for an hour, trying a new food, making a travel vision board, or playing a yard game. Then, check in at the Library to receive raffle tickets to put towards winning our amazing prizes like a brand new bike, a Stanley tumbler, a metal detector, passes to the Pinshack, Switch games, a piñata, and more! Teens will also receive a scratch-off card at their weekly check in that provides even more chances to win!
Adult Summer Reading: Ages 18 and up!
Each week complete different challenges including reading for an hour, stargazing, or visiting a museum, then check in at the Library to receive your raffle tickets to put towards winning our amazing prizes! This year’s prizes include tickets to a Hartford Yard Goats game, a Stanley cup, a pickleball set, a massage gun, and more! Adults can also visit the library once a week to receive a scratch-off card for additional tickets and prizes.
