MAY we see your dog? A fee forgiveness program.

In March of 2024, the Worcester Public Library introduced a program called March Meowness, a fee forgiveness program in which their patrons could have library fees forgiven in exchange for showing library staff a cat photo. But here in East Hampton, we think they were barking up the wrong tree! During the month of May, we’ll be forgiving fees in exchange for dog photos!

Do you have a lost or damaged item on your account that you’ve been billed for? Show us a photo of your dog any time during the entire month of May, and we’ll forgive the fee!

Don’t have a dog? Show us a picture of your neighbor’s dog, your best friend’s dog, or just any dog you think is cute! Don’t have a camera or a phone? Draw us a picture of a dog!

Photos can be shown in person to any library staff member, or emailed to library@easthamptonct.gov. Please let us know if you’d like us to post the photo on our community pet board!

Here are the rules:

  • The fee for one item only will be waived per patron
  • Item must be owned by East Hampton Public Library (we cannot waive fees from other libraries)
  • Item waived must be lost for at least 2 months or longer
  • Program is for books, DVDs, and CDs only- video games, museum passes, children’s backpacks, Tonies products, and Library of Things items are excluded from this program
  • Items are not guaranteed to be waived, and forgiveness will be given at the discretion of library staff
  • Account holders must be present

We understand that accidents happen and we don’t want that to stop you from using the Library, so take advantage of this program to get your account in good standing!
