Spooky East Hampton Writing Contest

The Spooky East Hampton writing contest returns for its second year! From September 14 through October 16, East Hampton residents of all ages are invited to submit an original spooky story for a chance to be published in this year’s edition of Spooky East Hampton, the Library’s annual collection of haunting local tales. The finished collection will be bound into a book available for check out at the Library.

Winners will be selected in three age categories—Children, Teen, and Adult—and will have their stories featured in Spooky CT, a statewide story collection showcasing winning entries from libraries across Connecticut.

 

Submission Guidelines:

  • Story must be set somewhere in Connecticut—past, present, or future.
  • Must be at least two sentences and no more than ten pages.
  • Content must be PG-13 or less (limited foul language and gore).
  • Entries must be original works. Plagiarized or AI-generated content will not be accepted.
  • Stories may be submitted online through the Library’s website or social media pages between September 14 and October 16.
